Lazzarini: Words of anger and condemnation are no longer enough
New York, July 29 (Hibya) - Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), delivered a speech at the Two-State Solution Conference.
According to a statement from UNRWA, Lazzarini referred in his speech to a meeting with UNRWA staff in Gaza. He said, “I spoke of their courage and determination to remain committed to the communities they serve. The hunger, exhaustion, anxiety, and isolation they experience are unbearable.”
Lazzarini emphasized that words of anger and condemnation are no longer enough. “It is time to act to secure a ceasefire in Gaza and reach a long-term political solution that also addresses the plight of Palestinian refugees.”
He also called on member states to take action.
