Guterres: Palestinians in Gaza face a major humanitarian catastrophe
New York, July 29 (Hibya) - United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stressed that Palestinians in Gaza are facing a major humanitarian catastrophe.
Guterres stated that the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification has warned that Gaza is on the brink of famine.
Highlighting the dire humanitarian situation, Guterres said, “This is not a warning. It is a reality unfolding before our eyes. Drops of aid must become an ocean—food, water, medicine, and fuel must flow in waves, unrestricted.”
Emphasizing that this nightmare must end, he added, “An immediate and lasting humanitarian ceasefire is needed; all hostages must be released immediately and unconditionally; and full, unimpeded humanitarian access to Gaza must be ensured. This is a test our shared humanity cannot afford to fail.”
