Lithuanian Foreign Minister Budrys: Russia targeted Ukraine’s energy infrastructure
Vilnius, October 14 (Hibya) - Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys said Kharkiv and Kyiv were heavily affected by Russian ballistic missile attacks on Ukraine and that power outages occurred in both cities. Budrys called for increased sanctions on Moscow and continued military and financial support for Ukraine.
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Budrys said in a social media post that Russia had launched another large-scale ballistic missile attack on Ukraine and that civilian energy infrastructure was targeted in the strikes.
Budrys noted that Kharkiv and Kyiv were particularly heavily affected by the attacks and said power outages occurred in both cities.
Budrys argued that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s statements that he wanted peace contradicted the ongoing attacks, claiming that Moscow continued to strike Ukraine’s energy infrastructure despite the mutual energy ceasefire initiative announced by U.S. President Donald Trump. Budrys also said Ukraine had refrained from targeting oil refineries in Russia.
Arguing that diplomatic initiatives alone would not be sufficient, Budrys said pressure on Russia should be increased. He called for providing Ukraine with the necessary military and financial support and for tightening sanctions on Russia.
