Brazilian President Lula da Silva assessed bilateral relations and trade potential with Bolivia. Lula emphasized that Brazil is currently Bolivia’s second-largest trading partner, but that the trade volume remains far below its potential and that they are working to address this situation.

The President recalled that more than 100 Brazilian companies participated in the Expocruz fair in Santa Cruz de la Sierra in September 2025. As part of this process, 120 Bolivian businesspeople, together with President Rodrigo Paz, will attend a Business Forum to be held in São Paulo.

Lula highlighted opportunities in sectors such as food, dairy products, genetic material, seeds, fruit, cotton, sugarcane and soybeans, and stressed that cooperation in biotechnology could be deepened. He also noted that Petrobras has long supported energy integration efforts in Bolivia.

The President explained that thanks to the Brazil-Bolivia Natural Gas Pipeline, Brazil’s industry and Bolivia’s hydrocarbon sector have grown, and that the pipeline could now be used to integrate Southern Cone gas markets and provide energy to Bolivia’s fertilizer plant in Puerto Quijarro.

Lula also stated that important steps have been taken toward interconnecting electricity systems and announced that an agreement had been signed to build a new transmission line between German Busch in Santa Cruz and Corumbá.
