French President Emmanuel Macron, in his message for the late thinker and writer Edgar Morin, highlighted Morin’s contributions to intellectual life and society.

In his message, Macron described Morin as “a resistance fighter, activist, writer and thinker of his era,” stating that “Edgar Morin was the embodiment of humanity.” Noting that Morin was a defender of nature and peoples, Macron said that he “never ceased to enlighten us with his kindness and curiosity.”

Drawing attention to Morin’s legacy, Macron commemorated the thinker with the words “complex thought, a fruitful life and a universal spirit,” and conveyed “the nation’s condolences” to his family and loved ones.
