Deniz polisinden Adalar çevresinde 'deniz taksi' denetimi

The decision was taken at yesterday’s meeting of the Special Task Force Steering Committee on the Implementation Management of Plastic and E-Waste Imports, chaired by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Chief Tan Sri Azam Baki.

According to Azam, the Ministry of Environment (DOE) was instructed to immediately apply to the Royal Malaysian Customs Department to classify e-waste under the “Absolute Prohibition” category in the relevant Customs Regulation.

In a statement today, Azam said: “The decision requires firm and integrated enforcement action by all relevant agencies. E-waste is no longer permitted and must be strictly enforced with the participation of all institutions.”

Previously, electronic waste was listed under the “Conditional Prohibition” category. Under this category, the Director General of the Ministry of Environment had discretionary authority to grant exemptions for the import of prohibited waste subject to specific conditions.

According to the statement, the meeting also decided to establish a special committee to enhance coordination and strengthen efforts related to electronic waste.
