Meeting between Russian and U.S. foreign ministers expected in Malaysia
Moscow, July 10 (Hibya) – Just days after U.S. President Donald Trump expressed disappointment over not participating in peace talks with Ukraine, a meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is expected today.
The meeting will take place on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) sessions in Malaysia.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that preparations are underway for a meeting between the foreign ministers of the Russian Federation and the United States, Sergey Lavrov and Marco Rubio, on July 10 as part of ASEAN events in Malaysia.
When asked about the matter, Zakharova said, “I confirm. Such a meeting is being worked on.”
Earlier, the Foreign Ministry press service reported that Rubio’s schedule included a meeting with Lavrov at 6:00 p.m. local time (1:00 p.m. Turkey time).
