Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni issued a message on the Day of Remembrance and Tribute to the Innocent Victims of the Mafia.

Meloni stated that the pain caused by organized crime concerns not only families but the entire Italian nation.

Expressing her condolences to the relatives of the victims, Meloni said: "First of all, we extend our condolences to all innocent victims and their families, to those who carry on their shoulders every day the burden of a pain that concerns the entire nation."

Prime Minister Meloni thanked citizens who did not yield to mafia blackmail and officials on duty, stating: "We express our gratitude to those who sacrificed their lives to protect the lives of others, to public officials, entrepreneurs, and citizens who never bowed to the blackmail of organized crime, and to the silent heroes who defend the rule of law."

Referring to the government's vision on this matter, Meloni said: "Our duty is to never forget and to continue the work of those who have always believed in a stronger and fairer Italy free from all forms of mafia."
