Merz: Massive increase in EU spending is unacceptable for Germany
Berlin, July 28 (Hibya) - German Chancellor Friedrich Merz commented on the European Union (EU) budget and economic issues following his meeting with Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz thanked Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin for his hospitality and emphasized the importance of cooperation between the two countries.
Speaking about Europe's economic future, Merz said, “Thank you for your warm welcome, Micheál Martin. Together, we will strengthen Europe's competitiveness.”
Reacting to the increase in the EU budget and arguing that spending should be reduced, Merz stated, “The massive increase in EU spending is unacceptable for Germany: we are calling for cuts. Europe can only assert itself through its own economic strength.”
