NB8 Foreign Ministers discuss Ukraine and European security in Kuressaare
Tallinn, April 30 (Hibya) - Representatives of the Nordic-Baltic countries and the European Union (EU), meeting under Estonia’s presidency, discussed support for Ukraine and European security.
Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna met with the foreign ministers of the Nordic-Baltic countries and Kaja Kallas in Kuressaare as part of Estonia’s NB8 presidency.
At the meeting held in the Nordic-Baltic Eight (NB8) format, it was emphasized that support for Ukraine is of strategic importance for European security. Support was expressed for Ukraine’s sovereignty, resilience and its process toward EU and NATO membership.
The meeting also addressed the continuation of military, political and economic support, strengthening defense cooperation, and developing joint initiatives in areas such as cybersecurity, information technologies, unmanned aerial vehicles and demining.
Statements noted that Russia poses a long-term threat to Euro-Atlantic security, while issues such as strengthening sanctions and limiting its economic resources were also discussed.
