Pakistan and the United States held a counter-terrorism dialogue meeting
Islamabad, August 12 (Hibya) – Pakistan and the United States held the latest round of the Pakistan–US Counter-Terrorism Dialogue, reaffirming their shared commitment to combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
The dialogue was co-chaired by UN Special Secretary Nabeel Munir and US State Department Acting Counterterrorism Coordinator Gregory D. LoGerfo.
Both delegations emphasized the critical importance of developing effective approaches to counter terrorist threats, including those posed by the Balochistan Liberation Army, ISIS–Khorasan, and the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan movement.
The United States commended Pakistan’s ongoing successes in containing terrorist organizations that pose a threat to regional and global peace and security.
Both sides stressed the importance of building stronger institutional frameworks and developing capabilities to address security challenges and to prevent the use of new technologies for terrorist purposes.
The two parties reiterated their intention to work closely on multilateral platforms, including the United Nations, to promote effective and sustainable approaches to counter-terrorism.
