Ukrainian President Zelensky held a meeting with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

Zelensky noted that thanks to Qatar’s mediation, many children illegally deported to Russia had been returned, saying, “We greatly value this act of humanity and assistance.”

He emphasized that the meeting discussed options for a genuine end to the war: “A ceasefire should be the first step. Only then can the right basis for diplomacy be established. I appreciate the Emir’s position that no discussion concerning Ukraine can be concluded without our country’s participation.”

Zelensky confirmed that Ukraine is ready for any format of talks that could bring about an honest and lasting peace, saying, “We coordinated our contacts with our partners and decided to remain in communication.”
