Pakistan Prime Minister Sharif issued a congratulatory message to citizens in Pakistan and abroad on the occasion of Independence Day on August 14.

Marking the 79th anniversary of Pakistan's independence, Sharif commemorated the leaders of the independence struggle, Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Muhammad Iqbal, as well as those who lost their lives. Sharif stated that independence was achieved through great sacrifices and a determined struggle.

Sharif said Pakistan is moving forward on the path of economic development, noting that modern information technologies, industrial and agricultural development, employment, education and public welfare projects are among the government's priorities.

Addressing the field of defense, Sharif said the Pakistan Armed Forces play an important role in defending the country. Sharif stated that Pakistan would take all necessary steps to protect its national interests and water resources, adding that his country plays a constructive role in promoting regional stability and cooperation.

Sharif also said that the joint defense agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, finalized in Mecca, is an indication of Pakistan's strengthened strategic role in the region.

Reiterating his position on Palestine and Jammu and Kashmir, Sharif said Pakistan stands in solidarity with the Palestinian people and Kashmiris. He argued that lasting peace in South Asia can be achieved through a diplomatic solution within the framework of United Nations resolutions and international law.

At the end of his message, Sharif called on the people of Pakistan to work in unity for the country's development, prosperity, peace and stability.
