A spokesperson for Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reacted to a statement by India’s Ministry of External Affairs regarding the map of the disputed Jammu and Kashmir region.

In a statement, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs firmly rejected India’s claims, describing them as baseless and contrary to internationally recognized facts. The statement said India’s unilateral actions and practices that Pakistan describes as "illegal occupation" cannot alter the disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir.

The ministry said the Jammu and Kashmir dispute is one of the oldest unresolved international disputes on the agenda of the United Nations Security Council. It argued that the final settlement should be determined in accordance with the will of the Kashmiri people, based on relevant UN Security Council resolutions and through a free and impartial plebiscite held under UN auspices.

Pakistan argued that official UN maps showing Jammu and Kashmir as disputed territory represent the region’s current legal status, adding that India’s official maps and unilateral sovereignty claims do not change that status.

The statement also called on the international community to help end human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir, which Pakistan describes as "illegally occupied by India," and to ensure the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination in accordance with relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
