Ramallah, August 15 (Hibya) - The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates stated that Palestine has appealed to the Red Cross to protect Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.

In the ministry's statement, it was noted:
"Under the instructions of Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Varsen Aghabekian Shahin, the Permanent Observer of Palestine to the United Nations and international organizations in Switzerland, Ambassador Ibrahim Khreisheh, sent an urgent letter to the President of the Red Cross, Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, calling for immediate action to protect the lives of Palestinian detainees subjected to torture, starvation, and ill-treatment in the detention cells of the Israeli occupation forces."
