According to the official statement of Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani held a phone call with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

The statement noted that efforts to strengthen regional peace, security, and stability were discussed during the call.

It was also emphasized during the conversation that preserving freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz is important, and that closing the strait or using it as a means of pressure could endanger regional interests.
