Qatar: Opening the Rafah Border Crossing to Palestinians is a step in the right direction
Doha, 3 February (Hibya) – Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that opening the Rafah Border Crossing to Palestinians is a step taken in the right direction.
In a statement, the ministry said that the State of Qatar affirmed that opening the Rafah Border Crossing in southern Gaza to Palestinian crossings is a correct step toward finding solutions to the tragic humanitarian situation faced by civilians, particularly in the fields of humanitarian aid and healthcare.
The statement added that the ministry emphasized the necessity of opening border crossings to ensure the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip by all parties and to guarantee the sustainable and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to the Strip.
The statement concluded: “The ministry reiterated the State of Qatar’s firm and unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and its steadfast commitment to supporting the brotherly Palestinian people in accordance with international law and the two-state solution, which guarantees the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.”
