Qatar participates in Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS meeting
Rome, October 2 (Hibya) - At the meeting, where Qatar was represented by its Ambassador to Rome and Permanent Representative to the United Nations organizations in Rome, Khalid bin Youssef Al Sada, support for the secure detention of ISIS-linked individuals, their repatriation and reintegration into society was discussed.
Qatar participated in the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS meeting held in Rome, the capital of Italy.
Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the country was represented at the meeting by its Ambassador to Italy and Permanent Representative to the United Nations organizations in Rome, Khalid bin Youssef Al Sada.
Representatives from 32 countries, the European Union and relevant international organizations attended the meeting.
According to the statement, the meeting addressed identifying the financial and logistical support needed for the secure detention of ISIS-linked individuals located in Iraq and Syria or displaced to those countries, their repatriation, rehabilitation and reintegration into society, as well as their prosecution where deemed appropriate.
The meeting also discussed providing concrete and coordinated support from coalition members to meet Iraq’s and Syria’s counterterrorism needs, strengthening detention capacity, ensuring the sustainability of health services and health facilities, and solutions for displaced persons currently or previously located in northeastern Syria.
