Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah met on October 18 in Manama, the capital of Bahrain.

According to a statement from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting took place on the sidelines of the 9th Ministerial Meeting of the Russia-Gulf Cooperation Council Strategic Dialogue.

The meeting addressed the further development of traditionally friendly relations between Russia and Kuwait. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining intensive political dialogue and strengthening mutually beneficial trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.

The ministers also exchanged views on international and regional issues, focusing particularly on the situation in the Persian Gulf. The statement emphasized the need to find ways to reduce tensions in this strategically important region as soon as possible.

Both sides also stated that there was no alternative to resolving existing disputes through political and diplomatic means, with full respect for the interests of the countries in the region involved in the conflict.
