Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said that Sukkot, like other lawmakers, is not sovereign in the West Bank area referred to as Judea and Samaria, and that decisions concerning the region should be made only by the state and authorized institutions.

Saar said, "Decisions should be made by the state and its institutions, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the security forces, and only through them."

Stating that lawmakers should also reflect this understanding to the public, Saar argued that Sukkot had deliberately acted to the contrary, saying, "Unfortunately, lawmaker Sukkot knowingly did exactly the opposite."
