Prime Minister Schoof said horrifying images were coming from the site where the passenger plane, en route from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick Airport, had crashed.

Schoof stated he conveyed his condolences to Modi and Starmer, saying, “In this difficult time, my thoughts are with all the victims of this terrible tragedy and their loved ones.”

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney also commented on the incident: “I was devastated to learn that the Air India flight from Ahmedabad to London was carrying 242 passengers (including one Canadian). My thoughts are with the loved ones of everyone on board. Canadian transportation authorities are in close contact with their counterparts and I receive regular updates as the response to this tragedy evolves.”
