Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha recalled that Russia's illegal blockade of Ukraine's seaports in 2022 at times increased the global food price index by more than 25 percent, causing severe food insecurity for millions of families.

Stating that Russia is trying to recreate a similar situation, Sybiha said: "Russia is now trying to achieve the same result by attacking civilian vessels in Ukrainian ports and along Ukraine's maritime corridor. The consequences for the world could be as severe as they were in 2022."

Calling on the international community, Sybiha said: "We call on the affected regions and countries to raise their voices and urge the international community to increase pressure on Moscow to end its attacks on freedom of navigation in the Black Sea and on global food security."
