Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani held a bilateral meeting with Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi as part of his visit to Washington.

Emphasizing Oman’s diplomatic role in the region, Tajani said: “The Italian government strongly supports the mediation efforts that Oman has been carrying out for months, which could lead to talks between the United States and Iran.”

Stressing the need to reduce tensions in the Middle East, Tajani added: “Italy supports dialogue and the commitment of mediators. We must work to prevent a new escalation in the Middle East and create conditions for effective negotiations that can ensure peace and stability in the region.”

Referring also to bilateral relations, Minister Tajani concluded: “Oman is a very important country in the region: we are actively involved in the political and economic follow-up to Prime Minister Meloni’s recent visit to Muscat.”
