Tajani: We are making every effort to ensure safe passage through Hormuz
Paris, March 27 (Hibya) - Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani stated that Italy is making every effort to protect trade routes and ensure safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz.
Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said that developments in the Middle East were the main agenda item at the G7 meeting held in Paris.
Noting that the war in the region affects not only security balances but also the global economy and trade routes, Tajani emphasized the need to restore freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
Tajani stated that Italy is playing an active role within the framework of the ASPIDES Mission in the Red Sea and Operation ATALANTA in the Indian Ocean, adding that ensuring safe passage is a priority for protecting trade routes.
Tajani also said that the European Union’s support for Ukraine, the reconstruction process, and efforts related to the Chernobyl nuclear power plant were also discussed.
