Washington, March 9 (Hibya) - U.S. President Donald Trump said he spoke with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese about the situation of the Iranian Women’s National Football Team, stating that the issue of five players has been resolved and that the Prime Minister has managed this sensitive process successfully.
U.S. President Donald Trump made a statement regarding diplomatic contacts about granting asylum to the Iranian Women’s National Football Team players currently in Australia.
Trump said he spoke with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese: “I just spoke with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese about the Iranian Women’s National Football Team. He’s on it! The situation of five players has already been handled, the rest are on the way.”
Emphasizing that some players are concerned due to threats against their families, Trump said: “However, some believe they must return because they fear for the safety of their families and due to threats against family members.”
