President Trump emphasized that under his leadership, the federal government intervened when the nation’s capital, Washington, D.C., had turned into a complete crime swamp.

As a result, he said, D.C. ceased to be one of the most dangerous and murder-filled cities in the U.S. and even the world, and within just a few weeks became one of the safest cities. Trump continued:

“The city literally came back to life; restaurants, shops, and businesses were overflowing, and for the first time in decades, there was almost no crime. It was wonderful to watch. But now, under pressure from the Radical Left Democrats, our capital’s Mayor Muriel Bowser, who for years turned a blind eye to this crime invasion, has told the Federal Government that the Metropolitan Police Department will no longer cooperate with ICE to apprehend and deport dangerous illegal immigrants. If I allow this, crime will return.”

Trump said: “People and businesses of Washington, D.C., don’t worry; I am with you and will not allow this to happen. If necessary, I will declare a National Emergency and bring in the federal government.”
