Tsahkna: EU enlargement is a geopolitical necessity
Tallinn, February 13 (Hibya) - Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna stated at the European Union (EU) Enlargement Conference held in Tallinn that enlargement is a geopolitical necessity and called for a clear membership perspective for Ukraine, Moldova and the Western Balkans.
Estonian Foreign Minister Tsahkna made remarks on the European Union’s enlargement policy during his opening speech at the EU Enlargement Conference in Tallinn.
Emphasizing that enlargement is a geopolitical necessity, Tsahkna noted that Estonia has directly experienced the transformative power of this process.
Tsahkna stated that Ukraine, Moldova and the Western Balkan countries deserve a clear and credible roadmap for membership and said that Europe must eliminate “grey zones.”
He added that these grey zones fuel instability and create grounds for aggression.
