Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said regional infrastructure projects, security and strategic resilience were discussed during his meeting with Tallinn Mayor Peeter Raudsepp.

Providing details of the meeting, Tsahkna said, “This morning, I met Tallinn Mayor Peeter Raudsepp at the historic Jaan Poska House to discuss the Tallinn-Helsinki tunnel project and preparations for URC2027.”

Drawing attention to the current security environment, Tsahkna said, “In the current security environment, stronger connections, reinforced critical infrastructure and sustainable resilience are indispensable.”

Emphasizing the importance of the Tallinn-Helsinki tunnel project, Tsahkna said, “The Tallinn-Helsinki tunnel is not only an economic investment but also a strategic one. It will strengthen the security architecture of the entire Nordic-Baltic region, increase redundancy and provide a reliable route for people, goods and critical materials across the entire continent.”

Tsahkna concluded his statement by saying, “Before the meeting, I presented the Mayor with a letter of thanks for the city’s contribution to the reconstruction of Iceland Square.”
