Ukraine: We condemn Russia’s latest wave of repression against the Crimean Tatar people
Kyiv, October 16 (Hibya) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine stated that it strongly condemns the latest wave of repression by Russian security forces against the Crimean Tatar people.
The ministry’s statement said that on the morning of October 15, Russian security forces conducted mass searches in the homes of Crimean Tatars in various districts of occupied Crimea.
The statement noted that among those detained were Esma Nimetullaieva, wife of political prisoner Remzi Nimetullaiev and mother of five children, pedagogy student and kindergarten teacher Nasiba Saiidova, as well as Elvira Alieva and Fevzie Osmanova.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine calls on the international community, human rights organizations, and the media to pay special attention to these events and to demand the immediate release of Esma Nimetullaieva, Nasiba Saiidova, Elvira Alieva, Fevzie Osmanova, and all Ukrainian citizens illegally detained. None of the crimes committed by the occupiers will go unpunished.”
