In a statement on social media, Zelensky extended his “sincerest congratulations” to Takaichi on her election as Prime Minister. He emphasized that Japan demonstrates leadership in many fields, saying: “Japan defends life and the rules-based international order, fostering respect among nations. We believe this leadership will only grow stronger.”

The Ukrainian leader expressed special gratitude to Japan for its support to Ukraine since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion.

Zelensky added:
“We face common challenges in Europe, the Indo-Pacific region, and globally. We look forward to further strengthening our partnership. Together, we can enhance and ensure security in our regions and beyond.”
