Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong stated that Australia today imposed additional sanctions on Iran in response to the regime’s violence against its own people.

Wong noted that among the 20 individuals and 3 entities sanctioned are senior officials and organizations of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps involved in the repression of the Iranian people, adding: “This announcement builds on the Albanian government’s designation of the IRGC as supporting terrorism, as well as the sanctions we have imposed on more than 200 Iranian individuals and entities.”

Wong said Australia stands with the Iranian people.
