Dutch Defense Minister Dilan Yeşilgöz-Zegerius said HNLMS Groningen had undertaken critical missions in the region over the past three months and praised the ship’s personnel for their contributions to humanitarian assistance and security operations.

Referring to the ship’s period of deployment, Yeşilgöz-Zegerius said: “HNLMS Groningen played an important role in the Caribbean over the past three months.”

Describing the activities carried out by the crew, Yeşilgöz-Zegerius said: “The crew provided aid following the earthquakes in Venezuela and contributed to the fight against drug trafficking.”

Yeşilgöz-Zegerius concluded her statement by saying: “Today, they returned home. Thank you for your efforts!”
