Zakharova: The fragility of this treaty regime is evident
Moscow, February 20 (Hibya) - Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that the international convention banning anti-personnel mines has been violated by Western states and Ukraine.
Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova commented on the current state of the Ottawa Convention banning anti-personnel mines and the relevant norms of international law.
Zakharova said that the international community has remained silent in the face of these violations: “Neither Ukraine’s violations nor the withdrawal of some Western states from the convention banning anti-personnel mines received the necessary response from the members.”
Emphasizing that the convention has lost its functionality, Zakharova stated, “The fragility of this treaty regime is evident.”
