Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made a statement regarding Russian attacks on the Zaporizhzhia and Kharkiv regions. Zelensky said that residential buildings, a university facility, a shopping center and a boiler house were damaged in the attacks.

Zelensky said that nine-story residential buildings, a university facility, a shopping center and a boiler house were damaged in Zaporizhzhia, adding, “So far, five people have been reported injured and some local residents have been evacuated.”

In Lozova in the Kharkiv region, Zelensky said that a woman was killed in a drone attack and that three other people were injured. Zelensky expressed condolences to the relatives of the woman who was killed and said that Russian forces targeted 10 regions of Ukraine from the evening through the night.

Zelensky said, “Russia is not backing down from its policy of escalation and is giving many signs that it is ready to expand the war.” Noting that the war is undermining global stability, Zelensky said pressure on the aggressor must be maintained and that long-term sanctions are part of that pressure.

Emphasizing that diplomacy must also proceed in parallel with pressure, Zelensky said that the United Nations General Assembly would discuss how peace could be achieved through joint efforts, adding that this is the fundamental task all leaders should work on.
