Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made a statement regarding Russia's latest attacks on his country.

Zelensky said that in Kyiv alone, two kindergartens, two schools, a residential building, an auto repair shop and various facilities were damaged by Russian attacks involving jet-powered drones. Zelensky also reported deaths and injuries in the attacks.

Zelensky said that 277 attack drones of various types were used in the wave of attacks that began yesterday, 155 of which were jet-powered.

Zelensky said: “If Russia were truly preparing steps to reduce tensions, this Shahed terror would not be happening.”

Noting that legislation on sanctions and tariffs against Russia in the United States has reached the implementation stage, Zelensky said they expect a stronger stance from G7 and G20 countries.

Zelensky also said that new sanctions packages are being prepared targeting supply chains for parts and equipment used by Russia in weapons production, financial networks, and related companies and individuals, adding that the sanctions should take effect as early as October.
