Zelensky: The US is playing an active role in the prisoner exchange process
Kyiv, May 11 (Hibya) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that diplomatic contacts with US representatives are continuing, noting that the Washington administration is actively mediating, especially in the prisoner exchange process.
Ukrainian President Zelensky said that diplomatic contacts with US representatives are continuing almost daily.
Zelensky stated that Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov briefed him on meetings held with US figures Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
Zelensky noted that the US has undertaken an active mediation role, particularly regarding prisoner exchanges, and said that contacts are ongoing to determine the format of the exchange. Zelensky stated that the Ukrainian side has submitted the relevant lists and that they expect active support from Washington for the implementation of the agreement.
The statement also noted that possible formats for leader-level meetings aimed at ending the Russia-Ukraine war were discussed in the United States.
Zelensky explained that around 20 countries are involved at different stages in the process under the “Drone Agreements” developed by Ukraine. The Ukrainian leader stated that four agreements have been signed and that the first contracts are in the preparation stage, adding that political arrangements with other countries are also being worked on.
Zelensky said that thanks to these agreements, Ukraine has achieved its first results in the energy sector, the required fuel volume has been supplied to the Ukrainian market, and significant financial gains are expected from the process.
Zelensky stated that new security cooperation initiatives will soon begin in the Middle East, the Gulf region, the South Caucasus, Europe, and other parts of the world, adding that positive developments are being prepared for Ukraine.
