Cholera, dengue fever and malaria cases reported in Sudan
Khartoum, September 11 (Hibya) - It was reported that due to armed clashes that have continued for more than three years in Sudan, health services are facing shortages of medicines, medical supplies and personnel, while cases of various infectious diseases have been seen in different parts of the country.
According to CCTV, the armed clashes that have continued for more than three years in Sudan have affected the delivery of health services. It was stated that shortages of medicines, medical supplies and personnel have caused disruptions in healthcare services.
Cholera, dengue fever, malaria and several other infectious diseases were reported to have caused outbreaks in different regions.
A new wave of cholera was reported to have begun in the Darfur and Kordofan regions in June. According to World Health Organization data, around 2,900 cases and 247 deaths were recorded.
According to United Nations data, more than 3,500 people have died in Sudan due to recurring cholera outbreaks since July 2024.
