Dar: Israel’s recognition of Somaliland violates international law
Islamabad, January 11 (Hibya) – Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishak Dar, speaking at the 22nd Extraordinary Session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), rejected Israel’s decision to recognize Somaliland, calling it a “dangerous precedent.”
According to a statement by Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Senator Mohammad Ishak Dar delivered an address at the 22nd Extraordinary Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers held in Jeddah.
Referring to the Somaliland issue, Dar said: “We reject Israel’s so-called recognition of ‘Somaliland’ as illegal and contrary to international law. Pakistan fully supports Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. This action constitutes a dangerous precedent with serious consequences for peace and security in the Horn of Africa and beyond.”
Emphasizing Pakistan’s firm stance on the Palestinian issue, Dar stated: “We reiterate our unwavering support for an independent, contiguous and sovereign Palestinian State based on pre-1967 borders, with Jerusalem as its capital.”
Addressing regional issues, Dar called on the OIC to intensify its efforts on Jammu and Kashmir, stressing that the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination must be realized in line with UN Security Council resolutions.
