EU announces €200 million investment plan for the South Caucasus
Brussels, July 1 (Hibya) - European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos announced following meetings in Baku that the European Union plans to invest €200 million to strengthen transport, energy, and digital infrastructure across the South Caucasus.
European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos announced a new European Union investment and cooperation package aimed at supporting lasting peace and economic integration in the South Caucasus.
After taking part in meetings in Baku with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev alongside Ursula von der Leyen, Kos said that €200 million would be invested in transport, energy, and digital infrastructure projects throughout the region.
The statement said the investments are intended to make trade and energy corridors between Europe and Asia safer and more efficient, potentially mobilizing up to €2 billion in additional investment.
It was also announced that the EU plans to establish a new "Connectivity Partnership" with Azerbaijan, aiming to strengthen regional economic integration and enhance stability in the South Caucasus.
