France cuts its 2026 growth forecast again
Paris, July 8 (Hibya) - French Minister of Economy and Finance Roland Lescure announced at the Public Finance Warning Committee meeting that the country's 2026 economic growth forecast had been revised down from 0.9 percent to 0.7 percent.
According to CCTV, French Minister of Economy and Finance Roland Lescure announced at the Public Finance Warning Committee meeting that France's economic growth forecast for 2026 had been lowered from 0.9 percent to 0.7 percent.
This marks the French government's second downward revision this year. In April, the growth forecast had already been reduced from 1.0 percent to 0.9 percent due to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
The French Ministry of Economy stated that the latest revision reflects weak first-quarter performance, the negative impact of conflicts in the Middle East on the second quarter, and a cautious outlook for the second half of the year.
The revised forecast is in line with estimates by France's National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (Insee), the IMF, and the OECD, while remaining above the Bank of France's 0.5 percent growth forecast published in June.
