Ghebreyesus: Ebola cases in Congo were brought under control in a short time
Geneva, December 1 (Hibya) – WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced that Ebola cases in the Democratic Republic of the Congo were brought under control in a short time thanks to institutional cooperation.
WHO Director-General Ghebreyesus praised health workers and field teams for their rapid response to the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
He stated that since the first cases were reported in September, the WHO has been working closely at all levels with relevant institutions, adding: “Advances in Ebola management (better planning, strategies, preparedness, patient care, effective vaccines and treatments) mean that outbreaks can often be controlled quickly with fewer casualties.”
Ghebreyesus emphasized that the WHO will continue to work closely with national partners to strengthen outbreak preparedness and protect communities.
