Guterres: Africa has no permanent representation on the UN Security Council
New York, September 23 (Hibya) - United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said Africa still does not have permanent membership on the Security Council.
United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said Africa has no permanent representation on the Security Council. Guterres said, “A 21st-century Security Council without permanent African representation is unjust and indefensible.”
Referring to the legitimacy the Security Council needs to address today's challenges, Guterres said it must be reformed to effectively reflect today's world.
