Deniz polisinden Adalar çevresinde 'deniz taksi' denetimi

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that the military prosecution has filed an indictment against Kamal Khatib, identified as the commander of the Nur Shams Battalion, in connection with an attack in July 2024 in which an Israeli soldier was killed.

According to the IDF, the indictment was submitted yesterday to the Samaria Military Court. Prosecutors accused Kamal Khatib of serving as a member, commander and later leader of the Nur Shams Battalion, and of responsibility for the July 2024 attack in which reservist Yehuda Geto was killed, along with several other offenses.

The indictment alleges that on July 1, 2024, the defendant acted from a room in the Bala neighborhood together with other armed individuals and remotely detonated an explosive device previously planted in the ground using a mobile phone.

According to the statement, the explosion overturned a security forces vehicle, killing Yehuda Geto after he was thrown from it, while another soldier sustained injuries to the chest and head.

The military prosecution also alleged that Khatib led the Nur Shams Battalion, recruited militants for surveillance and explosive manufacturing activities, stored explosive devices, engaged in arms trafficking, and supplied money and military equipment to members of the organization.

The statement said the defendant faces multiple charges, including "joint intentional murder", "attempted joint intentional murder", "leading an illegal organization", "trading in military equipment", and "planting explosive devices".

The Samaria Military Court ordered that the defendant remain in custody until the completion of legal proceedings.

The IDF also stated that the military prosecution has remained in continuous contact with Yehuda Geto's family and has supported them in ensuring their legal rights, adding: "The IDF and the Military Prosecution share the family's profound grief."
