The Israeli military reported that Akram Bassam Shaban Yasin, a senior official in Hamas's General Security Apparatus, was killed in a strike carried out in Gaza City in coordination with Israel's internal security service, Shin Bet.

In its statement, the military claimed that Hamas's General Security Apparatus was responsible for protecting the organization's senior leaders, collecting intelligence and assessing information concerning security forces for use in the organization's decision-making processes.

It was alleged that Yasin had recently advanced plans for attacks targeting Israeli soldiers and civilians and had been involved in attempts to carry out new attacks.

The Israeli military stated that the operation was part of ongoing efforts to target senior officials of Hamas's General Security Apparatus and weaken its capabilities in the Gaza Strip.
