Israeli President Isaac Herzog presented commendations to 18 employees of the General Security Service (Shin Bet), whom he said had demonstrated determination, competence and creativity in the course of their duties.

Herzog said an award ceremony had been held and stated that Shin Bet personnel work day and night away from the public eye.

Herzog said Shin Bet employees serve to ensure the security of Israeli citizens, adding: “Behind this silence lies a continuous, determined and covert effort.”

Herzog thanked Shin Bet chief David Zini, the organization’s commanders and managers, as well as its female and male personnel. Addressing the employees who received commendations, he said: “You, the award recipients, are the best of the best and you make up the future generation of the organization.”

At the end of his message, Herzog thanked the employees on behalf of the State of Israel and said the state trusts Shin Bet personnel.
