Lula: We are eliminating income tax for those earning up to 5,000 reais
Brasília, September 17 (Hibya) - Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva commented on measures implemented by his government in the areas of transportation, energy, education, health and taxation.

Lula highlighted a regulation that reduced the cost of driver’s license procedures in Brazil by up to 80 percent, the Gás do Povo program providing cooking gas support to more than 15 million families, and an income tax exemption for those earning less than 5,000 reais per month.
Lula also said that the Pé-de-Meia program, which reaches more than 7 million high school students, had reduced the school dropout rate by more than 61 percent. He stated that the São Francisco River water transfer project had benefited 12 million people, that 41 items had been made free under the Farmácia Popular program, and that a zero-tax policy on all products in the basic food basket would take effect in 2027.
