Limited movement in African stock markets
Istanbul, September 24 (Hibya) – African stock markets were generally under selling pressure in their latest closes, while South Africa’s Top 40 index fell 1.70 percent.
Trading volumes remained limited in the major markets across the African continent, while a downward trend in active indices drew attention. In South Africa, the South Africa Top 40 index fell by 1,795.20 points, or 1.70 percent, to 103,823.14 points. On the Moroccan stock market, the Moroccan All Shares index declined 0.20 percent to 18,040.73 points.
The Mauritius Semdex index, which posted gains in the region, rose 0.60 percent to 2,486.75 points.
In Namibia, the Namibia All Shares index remained flat at 1,108.94 points, while no changes were recorded in the stock markets of Kenya, Uganda, Botswana, Malawi, Tanzania and Rwanda.
