German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated that as the anniversary of the September 11 attacks approaches, Germany will continue to stand alongside the United States in defending fundamental values such as freedom and democracy.

Highlighting the sense of unity felt at the time of the attacks, Merz said, "The 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks is fast approaching, and this is an extremely emotional moment for us. At that time, as Germans, we deeply felt just how much common ground we shared with our American friends."

Emphasizing Germany's determination, Merz said, "Germany remains committed today to standing alongside the United States of America in defending the values that define us and bind us together — freedom, democracy and respect."
