Message of thanks from Meloni to Pope Leo XIV
Rome, May 8 (Hibya) - Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said in a message published on the anniversary of Pope Leo XIV’s election that the Pope’s calls for peace, hope and dialogue among peoples have become a global point of reference.

In her message, Meloni recalled that one year ago, the white smoke rising from the Sistine Chapel announced to the world that the Catholic Church had elected a new Pope, remembering the moment with the words “Habemus Papam.”
Prime Minister Meloni thanked Pope Leo XIV for his efforts in promoting messages of faith, hope, peace, dialogue among peoples, and closeness to the most vulnerable segments of society.
Meloni also stated that during a period of great uncertainty, the Pope’s voice has become an important point of reference not only for Christians but for many people around the world.
