Metsola: The Critical Medicines Act agreement is a major step forward
Brussels, May 12 (Hibya) - European Parliament President Roberta Metsola emphasized the importance of the Critical Medicines Act agreement reached early this morning for the healthcare sector and patients.
European Parliament President Roberta Metsola stated that the agreement reached would bring improvements in many areas, from access to medicines to production capacity.
Referring to the main objectives of the agreement, Metsola said: “Better access to more affordable medicines. Safer supply chains. Stronger protection for patients. Increased EU production and manufacturing capacity.”
Highlighting critical medicine groups and the progress achieved, Metsola said: “From antibiotics to insulin, from vaccines to chronic disease medicines, the Critical Medicines Act agreement reached early this morning is a major step forward.”
Metsola concluded her statement by specifying the beneficiaries of the agreement:
“For patients who need life-saving treatment. For doctors and healthcare workers. For Member States working together. For the European pharmaceutical industry.”
